Gardens of Paris
The parks and gardens in Paris are nothing like the ones here in Canada. They are beautiful with a variety of sculptures, fountains and cafés.Jardin De Luxembourg is the prettiest formal garden in Paris, and is my favourite. At the center of the park is a pond, known as the Grand Bassin. Around the pond are chairs which you can move to find that perfect location to read, draw or relax. To entertain the young ones, children can rent small boats for the pond, or they can also watch the live puppet shows in the little theatre. The park features two noteworthy fountains; Fontaine de Medicis, at the north end and Fontaine de l’Observatoire at the south end.Being in this garden, surrounded by beautiful flowers, hearing the sound of water fall from the fountains and being able to see sculptures all over the land is breath taking. The sculptures and flowers are respected by the public, I have never seen any vandalism. If you ever get the chance to visit Paris, and want to spend an afternoon reading or you are inspired to draw, Jardin de Luxembourg is the perfect place.
My favourite things to do in Paris, France
As I have mentioned before, everyone should visit Paris one time in his/her life. I have been blessed with being able to visit Paris twice already and I am returning this coming fall. The one main reason for this is because of my parents, they love Paris. They love Paris so much, and have been so many times that they now organize tour groups once a year. Of course I go with them, and I play a very important role; I take everyone to all the good shopping centers, and famous cafés.Even though I love window shopping and hitting all the boutiques in the city, the one thing I have to do at least once everyday is sit outside a café, order a cappuccino, sit back and people watch. It is one of the most interesting things to do. You ask, “how are you able to people watch, facing whomever you went to the café with?” Well actually, the seats in all the cafés are set up so you can people watch. Instead of facing inwards, all the chairs face out into the city. Just another little piece of the amazing and fascinating city, Paris.
Rodin
” Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which nature herself is animated. “Auguste Rodin
Paris is the most captivating city in the world. I have been lucky enough to visit the remarkable city twice in my life. My favourite museum is Musée D’ Orsay because it contains the works of impressionists. Impressionism was a major movement that developed in France during the 19th century. It was an attempt to accurately and objectively record visual reality in terms of transient effects of light and colour, and is based on the use of colour. My favourite impressionist painter is Claude Monet. He was born in Paris in 1840. Monet is recognized as being one of the creators of impressionism because of his use of colour to convey emotion. His paintings capture scenes of middle-class life, and the ever changing qualities of sunlight in nature. His technique of applying bright, unmixed colours in quick, short strokes became hallmarks of impressionism.Monet’s paint brush was an extension of his body. His brushstrokes are full of movement and energy, expressing the way he felt at that particular time. Here is one of my favourite quotes by Monet.” For me, a landscape does not exists in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life – the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.” Claude Monet
The World of Beauty
Sitting on the side of a street, sipping on a café as people walk by speaking the language of romance is one of my greatest passions. When I first visited Paris three years ago, I instantly fell in love. Not only with the city, but with the romantic lifestyle. Walking down the streets you can see young and old couples holding eachother as they walk the streets or read together along the Seine. It is the only city in the world that is covered with artistic beauty. Walking through the park, and being able to see beautiful sculptures from all angels is breath taking. For someone involved in the arts with a respect for artistic creativity, Paris is truly remarkable.
